Beyond the Films Special – SWR #27

Greetings exalted ones!

Though we, your hosts, are taking a holiday break from the Star Wars Report this week, we bring you a special episode to hold you over until our live show next Thursday.

This episode tells you more about our upcoming expanded universe podcast, Star Wars Beyond the Films, and how it came to be. This is partially an excerpt from the Star Wars podcasting network, Solo Sound, from one of their podcasts, the EU Review episode twenty-three, in which Nathan Butler gives an in depth look at what’s up with the new show! It also has a special intro that Riley recorded; he talks about Star Wars Beyond the Films, and a few other things as well.

We’re quite excited about Star Wars Beyond the Films, and think that you guys must be too, considering a number of you’ve already followed their Twitter account and liked their Facebook page!

Check out Solo Sound for more Star Wars podcasting! Here are their Twitter, and their Facebook accounts.

Our thanks goes to Nathan Butler for permission to use an excerpt of the EU Review.

May the Force be with you, always!

P.S. This post has too many hypertext hyperlinks….. so much good content! Peace out!

Leia’s Journey for Baby Leah

Hey everyone!

I’m here to tell you about a fund raiser for Baby Leah, a little girl who’s been very sick for most of her short life. If you haven’t heard Baby Leah’s story, CNN covered it here.

Our good friend Chris “Hoth Ice Planet” Smith began this adventure, and is in the process of working on it as you read this. Basically, he’s sending a Princess Leia figure around the world to see different people and places to raise awareness, and hopefully funds, for Baby Leah and her family! Check it out, and if you want to be a destination for the Princess Leah figure, email Chris with his contact information at the bottom of this write up.

Leia’s Journey for Baby Leah

I am Princess Leia in my Endor combat outfit, and I am traveling the world to help raise awareness and money for “Baby Leah” and her family.

Here is the personal blog of her family where you can keep up to date on her well being.

I have started a Facebook page to house my trip around the world in photos.

My trip starts off at the home of the “Sarlacc Pit” podcast in Memphis, TN. I got to tour Memphis!!! Then I stopped off at Graceland, Memphis bridge, B.B. King’s on Beale Street and the Martin Luther King’s Museum. Where will I go next? Stop by my Facebook page to keep up with my trip.

If you want me to stop off in your city or country, then let me know on our Facebook page or shoot me an email at I am sooooo excited to get this trip started. Day one was a blast. Next stop LA.

If you would like to make a donation to “Baby Leah” and her family go here.

The Year in Review – SWR #26

Welcome to this, the last 2011 episode of The Star Wars Report!

This was a very special episode of The Star Wars Report; we discussed how we felt about this past year, and where we’ve come from, once we were The Bothan Report, now we are The Star Wars Report! This is a very free-form episode, and it runs a bit longer than normal, an hour and forty-ish minutes. We had quite a turn out in the chat, which was a very pleasant surprise! We’d imagined that there wouldn’t be that many people, it being so close to Christmas. Thanks for that guys, you’re always fun to talk to. =)

We talked about how it’s great to be members of the Star Wars fan community, a community which bands together to help such children like Baby Leah, a little girl who has been sick for most of her short life, and Katie, a girl who was bullied for liking Star Wars.

We also talked a bit more about the Star Wars expanded universe podcast that will be joining us in January, Star Wars Beyond the Films. You can hear a more in-depth description of Star Wars Beyond the Films and how it came to be on the twenty third episode of Nathan Butler’s podcast, the EU Review.

Our sponsor for this episode is Toy Hutt! Mark was delighted to find that Toy Hutt has a figure of K’Kruhk, a bit more on the expensive side, this figure of K’Kruhk would make Mark really happy if anyone is wondering what to get him for Christmas! Haha

We also talked about how The Star Wars Report has changed, and all our favorite Star Wars items that have come out in the past year, how we’ve changed as Star Wars fans, how much we adored The Hobbit trailer, (yes really, we did) and decided we’d discuss it in the next episode. We also read several emails we got from listeners, which we always love doing, and responded to them.

Thank you so much guys, we’ve loved doing the Star Wars Report, we’ve loved talking to everyone on Facebook, Twitter, via email, and in our live show chat room!

“Twilight is upon me and soon night must fall. That is the way of things……”

ON TO 2012!

Middle-earth Network Christmas Album

Our friends over at Middle-earth Network have created a wonderful Christmas album that I think you guys might enjoy! It features never before heard tracks, and is quite the change from your everyday, (sometimes boring in my opinion, yes, you can call me a grinch) Christmas music! My favorite is the White Hand Christmas, which seemed rather reminiscent of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas albums (My favorite Christmas music!), with more than a touch of The Lord of the Rings soundtrack thrown in!

Anyway, long story short, you guys should check it out! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

~ Bethany

Just in the St. Nick of time for Christmas we’re presenting to all our followers, fans, and friends,Minstrels of Yuletide: Christmas in Middle-earth! An exclusive digital Christmas album for your sheer holiday enjoyment brought to you by Middle-earth Network and Swordsong Records. Featuring the talent of our musical friends the Lonely Mountain Band, Arjan Kiel, Marc Gunn,Gandalf’s Fist, and Broceliande, along with a hidden track (which can only be heard if you download the album) by our very own Tyler Michael Jonsson aka ‘The American Gollum’. The digital album includes a special treat from world famous fantasy artist Ted Nasmith, who has allowed us to use his brilliant art for the cover.

To listen or download the album, click the image above.

This album has been exclusively created for Middle-earth Network and boasts never before heard music on several tracks. It includes Arjan Kiels hit single White Hand Christmas, a new track from John DiBartolo of Lonely Mountain Band singing a brand new creation entitled The King of the Magi, also three new tracks from Gandalf’s Fist one of which is a remake of an old Cumbrian Yule song, The Snows They Melt the Soonest. You’ll hear a delightful gem from Marc Gunn called Celtic Christmas Elf Conscription Song, and two traditional Yuletide tracks from one of our favorite Tolkien inspired musical groups, Broceliande.

The songs and music cater to a wide variety of musical tastes. From traditional to the hilarious you’re going to be moved and laughing all in the same hour.

Minstrels of Yuletide: Christmas in Middle-earth is the perfect stocking stuffer for you and your friends who enjoy these outstanding musicians and crave a bit of Middle-earth during the holidays. To our knowledge this may be the first ever Middle-earth inspired Christmas album ever produced!

Sales of the album go to support and grow everything we’re doing here in Middle-earth.

Rattling the Lightsaber – SWR #25

Welcome back to The Star Wars Report!

On this episode, we talk about the Glee Christmas special featuring everyone’s favorite wookie, Chewbacca!

We also cover a story about a firefighter Mike Stentzel, who suffered a stroke and was comatose for a time. Star Wars fans and members of the 501st helped raise money for him and his family, once again showing what an awesome community of fans we are!

We were joined by a good friend, and staff member/contributor to The Star Wars Report, Peter Morrison, founder and admin of LightSaber Rattling, a wonderful Star Wars blog. He tells us a bit about himself and LightSaber Rattling, and how he became a Star Wars fan! Be sure to check out his site, he has a lot of fun, original content on it!

We also discussed George Takei’s “Star Peace”, his response to the Star Wars vs. Star Trek feud going on right now between Carrie Fisher and William Shatner!

This episode of  The Star Wars Report is sponsored by our good friends over at, Toy Hutt. Interested in buying Star Wars toys, games and collectibles over the holidays? Check them out, they have a lot of great stuff! On this episode, Bethany was curious to see if they had a Governor Tarkin figure, she was remembering the Stephen Stanton interview we did a while back!

Also, a man in Oregon attacks holiday shoppers with a lightsaber!? Clearly a rogue Jedi.

“One officer was able to hit the man with his taser, but the suspect then broke the taser wire with his light saber- at which point, the officers grabbed him and wrestled him to the ground.”

Wow, clearly a skilled Dark Jedi at that!

I hope you enjoy this episode of  The Star Wars Report!
