New Star Wars Animated Series ‘Rebels’ Announced

Today Lucasfilm announced on the official Star Wars website details of the new animated series they have been teasing us with. The show will be titled Star Wars Rebels and will be set sometime between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen.Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

The series is set to air on Disney XD sometime in Fall 2014 and will kick off with a hour-long special on The Disney Channel. Much of the creative team from The Clone Wars will be returning including Dave Filoni (Executive Producer), Joel Aron (CG Supervisor), and Killian Plunkett (Art Director). Simon Kinberg (X-Men First Class, Sherlock Holmes) and Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, Young Justice) will also be involved as producers.

Fans lucky enough to be going to Celebration Europe will get an exclusive first look at the series.

The series seems to be in great hands and I can’t wait to see what they bring us!
