Butler, sit down to discuss Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi: Eruption by John Ostrander, as well as the Haynes Death Star Owner’s Technical Manual. Strap in and tighten your crash webbing Fandom, Star Wars Beyond the Films is setting off on another rapid-fire trip into the galaxy far, far away!

Your hosts stay SPOILER-FREE for the first 21 minutes this week, just be sure to jump out at Tarkin’s Arrogance before the spoilers get too deep!

They run down Dawn of the Jedi: Eruption by John Ostrander first, the short story from Star Wars Insider 141. Nathan points out how he enjoyed the art of Jan Duuresma’s that accompanied the short story in Insider Magazine.

And then after covering Eruption your hosts move into the latest installment to the Haynes Owner’s Manual line; Star Wars Death Star Owner’s Technical Manual by Ryder Windham, Chris Reiff, and Chris Trevas.

They explore concepts new and old, as well as some of their own perceptions about the Death Star being shattered.Mark was pondering the off-site construction of the many City Sprawl’s that covered the Death Star’s hull, and housed most of the staff and troops assigned to the battle station. They discussed how the vast majority of the station was saved for the internal operations of the Death Star’s laser. And how the in-universe application wouldn’t really work, despite artist Chris Trevas’s cleaver marketing approach seen below.

Once again, your dynamic duo cover entirely too much ancient Je’daii and Death Star action in their ONE hour, but don’t worry, give it a go; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might even get a little education on the EU while you’re at it. But no matter how you slice it and dice it, you’ll be having another adventure Beyond the Films. So sit back, hang on, enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!
