Star Wars Bookworms is now two years old! In this episode we talk about Celebration, Darth Vader, Marilyn Monroe, Harry Potter, and football.

  • We talk about the beginnings of our plans for Star Wars Celebration. We are doing a show on the official podcast stage you guys!
  • Our Goodreads book club is going strong with over 200 members. We are wrapping up our reading of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye and are getting ready to read Heir to the Jedi in March.
  • We give our thoughts on Marvel Darth Vader #1. Aaron gets scolded for dropping spoilers.
  • Dark Horse Comics released their final comic volume in October. We finally review Rebel Heist. Goodbye Dark Horse. You had a good run.
  • We¬†also review the Rebels junior novel Servants of the Empire: Edge of Rebellion. Teresa gets her chance to talk some Harry Potter on the podcast.
  • Shout out to the Ion Cannon podcast. We totally ripped off your rating system.

Rebel of Dathomir – SWBW #35

We took a little bit of a break but we are back just in time for Christmas! And so much happened during our time off, so we had plenty to talk about.

  • StarWars.com posted a holiday gift guide for readers. Teresa walked us through the list and we basically want it all.
  • Since our last episode the title The Force Awakens was announced, we got a teaser trailer, and character names were revealed. We gave our thoughts on it all.
  • Marvel Star Wars #1 is coming soon and we have lots of covers to choose from. We talked about the numerous variants, how we feel about them, and picked a few we like.
  • We review Darth Maul – Son of Dathomir, the canon comic series based on unused scripts from The Clone Wars.
  • We briefly discuss Star Wars Volume 3: Rebel Girl. We didn’t have much positive to say so we kept this review short.

After travels to Dragon Con and some great times talking to Star Wars authors, Aaron and Teresa are back to reviewing books and comics… and talking about some other fun stuff too.

  • They welcome guest Megan from Blog Full of Words and Den of Geek who sticks around with them for most of the episode.
  • Emails! They read a few listener emails and get into a discussion about the portrayal of women in Star Wars. Well Teresa and Megan discuss. Aaron pretty much sidesteps. They also answer the question of which upcoming novel each are most excited for.
  • New York Comic Con is just a few days away and Aaron, Teresa, and Megan will all be there. They talk about the convention, Star Wars panels, and what other things they are most excited for.
  • Aaron and Megan review the comic volume Legacy: Wanted Ania Solo. Teresa attempts to derail them and is somewhat successful.
  • Megan says goodbye and Teresa and Aaron get to talk some Rebels. They get into a detailed discussion and review of the junior novel Ezra’s Gamble.

  • We were so happy to have first time guest Zak “PT” Thorogood join us. He is the main comic book reviewer over at Jedi News.
  • Did Marvel play it safe? We talked about our reactions to the first three Star Wars comic series announced by Marvel.
  • Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress in the same novel! Aaron gushes over the possibilities while Teresa and PT calmy discuss their thoughts as well.
  • “It’s the same universe”. We talk about John Jackson Miller’s latest comments on the new direction of the novels and comics.
  • War, romance, betrayal.. and that’s all in just the first comic. We discuss and review Dawn of the Jedi: Force War and Legacy: Prisoners of the Broken Ring.

Star Wars Weekends kept us busy for the month of June but we are back with a new episode and some new guests!

  • First time guest Paul DePaola (EU Cantina, Fanboys Talking) joined us and talked about his fandom, comics, and his 501st membership.
  • Another first time guest, Johnamarie Marcias (Now This is Podcasting, The Wookiee Gunner) gave us a recap of New York Book Con 2014. She also spoke Mando’a which increased her cool points.
  • Aaron and Teresa gave their favorite moments from Star Wars Weekends.
  • Paul stuck around to help review the comic volumes Dark Times: A Spark Remains and Star Wars: From the Ruins of Alderaan.
