Rancho Obi-Wan Experience at Star Wars Celebration VI!

Rancho Obi-Wan Brings Treasures, Logo Souvenirs,

And Giveaways For Fellow Fans at Celebration VI

The Rancho Obi-Wan Experience (booth #1235) at Star Wars Celebration VI will exhibit items ranging from the first, 1978 prototype Boba Fett laser rifle, to unproduced Star Wars action figures, to an incredible two-foot high piñata of Luke on a tauntaun. About 300 special pieces from the world’s largest private collection of Star Wars memorabilia, owned by Steve Sansweet, will be on display at the 800-square-foot exhibit.

To mark the occasion, Rancho Obi-Wan (ROW) will be offering special Celebration VI membership packages that include an exclusive ROW C VI patch (while they last) as well as specially-priced family memberships. Even better, you’ll be able to pick up your full, personalized membership kit at the booth. Members get a 10% discount on all merchandise purchased at C VI.

There will be a chance to take home a limited edition solid-bronze bust of Darth Vader as conceived by Ralph McQuarrie ($1,500 retail price) for a small donation. Giveaways will include postcards, stickers, and bookplates. Rancho Obi-Wan is a nonprofit museum depending on the generous support of the public to share the excitement, fun, and friendship that Star Wars has brought. Its motto is “Inspired by the Force of Imagination.”

For the first time outside the museum, limited amounts of exclusive Rancho Obi-Wan branded souvenirs will be available, including T-shirts (two styles), an embroidered baseball cap, a 15-ounce bistro mug, a coaster-paperweight, and other items. Copies of some of Sansweet’s most popular Star Wars books will also be available. And you can get your book personally autographed by Steve.

Special illustrated bookplates for the upcoming book, Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection (Chronicle Books, fall 2012) will be available at no charge and will be signed by all four contributors at least once each day of the show. Times will be posted. Also, The ROW Experience will be headquarters for the Curto/Burns Collectors’ Cast, a monthly podcast about Star Wars collecting.

“We’ve got so many incredible things to share with fellow fans that we asked for and got more floor space to show them all,” Sansweet said. “I look forward to saying hello to old friends and making lots of new ones at the show.”

Rancho Obi-Wan Tour and Membership Details

We are so visiting this when we get the chance!

————-

Rancho Obi-Wan (ROW) is a non-profit Star Wars™ memorabilia museum on the outskirts of winecountry in Sonoma County, California, just a 50-minute drive north of San Francisco. It is an eye-popping, wonder-inducing, interactive experience for fans of the saga of all ages and from all over the world. Recently remodeled, its nearly 9,000 square feet of space houses 35 years of Star Wars treasures from all over the world, from movie-used props to tubes of toothpaste, from hundreds of works of art to thousands of posters, from every action figure and vehicle ever made to fan-created piñatas.

Now, for the first time, every fan can take an active role in supporting the mission of Rancho Obi-Wan, and also arrange a tour of the collection led by the man who assembled it all, Steve Sansweet, subject to certain conditions (see Information and Policies section below). Steve, author of 14 StarWars books and for 15 years Lucasfilmʼs Ambassador to Star Wars fans everywhere, has a storehouse of knowledge about the hundreds of thousands items in the collection, and spins delightful, often amazing, stories during tours.

Public support is vital to the mission of Rancho Obi-Wan: to educate and inspire using the collection, the Star Wars phenomenon, and people connected with or influenced by the saga. Fans can join Rancho Obi-Wan at one of the various membership levels, visit the collection, make a donation to support its ongoing activities, or rent the museum for events ranging from business meetings to weddings.

Rancho Obi-Wan Becomes Non-profit!

RANCHO OBI-WAN BECOMES

CALIFORNIA NONPROFIT PUBLIC-BENEFIT CORPORATION

INSPIRED BY THE FORCE OF IMAGINATION

Petaluma, CA—December 15, 2011—RANCHO OBI-WAN (ROW), home of the largest privately held Star Wars™ collection in the world, is now a California nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to serve the public through the collection, conservation, exhibition, and interpretation of Star Wars memorabilia.

Fans can now play an active part at Rancho Obi-Wan by getting memberships, taking tours, planning events, and making donations. “The best part of Star Wars for me has been getting to meet and become friends with thousands of enthusiastic fans all over the world,” says collection owner, Steve Sansweet, who is President and Chief Executive Officer of Rancho Obi-Wan, Inc. “The saga has become a multigenerational touchstone of popular culture worldwide, and one role of the museum and its outreach program is to show how that happened.”

Sansweet started collecting before the movie premiered in May, 1977. The collection is estimated to contain over 200,000 items and is constantly growing. Newly remodeled, the museum’s nearly 9,000 square feet houses 35 years of Star Wars treasures.

Fans can join ROW at one of the various membership levels: Initiate ($35), Apprentice ($75), Knight ($200), Master ($600), or Grand Master ($1,300). (The museum is not open to the general public except through reserved membership tours.) All annual members will get an exclusive membership kit along with a quarterly email newsletter. ROW is also planning members-only events and other special activities.

Individuals and companies will be able to make donations to help with ROW‘s educational and creative activities, its gifts of tours to other non-profits and charitable fund-raisers, its public outreach, and the maintenance of the building and collection.
