It’s a new episode of Star Wars Bookworms!

  • This month in the Goodreads book club we are reading X-wing: Rogue Squadron. Head on over to Goodreads and join in on the conversation.
  • We read listener emails where one listener sings Teresa’s praises and another totally agrees with Aaron.
  • New Marvel comics are coming. We give our thoughts on the upcoming Lando series and the one-shot Obi-Wan story coming in Star Wars #7.
  • We continue to put off reviewing Heir to the Jedi and instead do a flip-through review of Sabine’s Rebel Sketchbook.

bookworms Banner

Star Wars Weekends in going on right now.. and we aren’t there (sad face.) So to keep our minds off of all the fun we are missing, we decided to record another episode of Star Wars Bookworms!

  • The Goodreads book club is moving fast and we can barely keep up. We are wrapping up Lords of the Sith and will be choosing a Legends book for June.
  • Emails are fun. We replied to 5 listener emails which led to discussions on Nomi Sunrider, Han Solo in Rebels, and other random sundries.
  • Not just for kids. We discuss all the Jeffrey Brown Darth Vader books and pick some of our favorite pages. Then we do a flip-through review of his latest, Darth Vader and Friends.
  • New canon, new reference guide. We take a very detailed look at the great new book Ultimate Star Wars.

Riley’s Bantha-sized Recap of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in Star Wars land? Well, I found out at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. What an incredible event. Seeing old friends, meeting new ones, Watching the Rebels season 2 premier, watching the TFA teaser 2 with thousands of other SW fans, there are so many highlights, I know I’ll never be able to commit them all to this post, but I’m going to do my best. Before jumping into the heart of this post, be sure to check out the very special “Audio Diary” edition of the Star Wars Report podcast. It’s a great way to hear what celebration is like.

I flew out to Anaheim at some ungracious hour to be able to have as much time Wed. as I could to pick up my press badge, take a look at the scene at the convention center, and of course, see a bit of Disney. This was my 1st visit to California, and I figured that I couldn’t possibly get all the way to Anaheim and not see Disneyland. Continue reading

Celebration Recap and Interviews – SWBW #41

bookworms Banner

Now that some time has passed and we are down from our Celebration high, it’s time to think back on all the good times.

  • Celebration was packed with awesome Star Wars events, celebrity sightings, and hanging out with all our favorite people. We take some time to recap our Celebration Anaheim experience.
  • We also got some great author interviews while we were there. Our first one was with Christie Golden who talked about her reaction to the new The Force Awakens trailer, creating a new species, and writing Vos and Ventress in Dark Disciple.
  • Next we talked to John Jackson Miller about writing a Rebels novel, his take on Hera and Kanan, and why he gave a certain character such a cruel fate in Kenobi.
  • Our last Celebration interview was with James Luceno. He talked about creating Tarkin’s backstory with the Story Group, writing dark side characters, and his take on new canon and Legends.
  • After we got back from Celebration we caught up with writer and artist Jeffrey Brown to talk about his books including the just released Darth Vader and Friends.

Is it Celebration London yet?

Live at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim – SWBW #40

bookworms Banner

We did it! We got to California, talked in front of a crowd, and recorded the whole thing without messing up! Here is the audio from our live show on the podcast stage at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us. You guys were awesome.

  • It all started with a surprise guest. Writer Dan Wallace (Jedi Path, Book of Sith, and too many others to name) was in the crowd and agreed to come up on stage and join our conversation. We also had author Drew Karpyshyn (Darth Bane Trilogy, Revan) on stage as well. We asked them a few questions to get the conversation started and then opened it up to crowd questions.
  • After our discussion with the writers we switched gears and brought up friends of the show Jedi Shua (Techno Retro Dads) and Mark Newbold (Radio 1138, Jedi News) to discuss with us some of our favorite published works. Some interesting picks and a lot of fun conversation.
  • Finally we brought to the stage Erich Schoeneweiss, editor at Del Rey Books, to briefly discuss the upcoming novels from Del Rey and to give out some cool prizes..
