“Obviously, we know that there’s a huge amount of anticipation for Star Wars toys this year, and we wanted to be forthcoming about this as we know it might make a difference for some of you in regards to travel plans.”

Hasbro Digital Release Box Sets

hasbro_digital_release_box_setsIt appears Hasbro plans to release products in conjunction with the digital releases of the Star Wars films sometime around May the Fourth, though the release date could also be sooner than that, according to Jedi News.

The figures appear to be from the Saga Legends line. Also, I find the lack of female action figures disturbing. Both trilogies have prominent female characters, and once again, they’ve been neglected. The Saga Legends action figure of Princess Leia as Boushh would have fit in quite nicely.

Star Wars: The Next Generation “Teasing Your Kids”

Star Wars: The Next Generation
Teasing Your Kids

My father loved movies and science fiction.  He was a Star Trek fan in the sixties, though he sometimes missed seeing it on television because his in-laws tended to visit on nights when the program aired.  (This may have been a contributing factor to our family being one of the first I knew to have a VCR in our home; he didn’t want interruptions to cause him to miss seeing his favorite shows.)  Having seen Star Wars in 1977 while he was out-of-town on a business trip, he came back home and immediately took my older brother to go see this “strange movie in space that had a gorilla for a copilot.”  Later, he would take his whole family to see the iconic space opera at the drive-in (formerly recounted in this post). roundup02New Gentle Giant Ltd. Maquettes

Designs of Ezra Bridger/Chopper and Zeb Orrelios maquettes appeared earlier this year, and now, Gentle Giant Ltd. brings fans the Star Wars Rebels Stormtrooper, which is a design based on Ralph McQuarrie’s initial Stormtrooper concept art. Sadly, no sign of Hera Syndulla or Sabine Wren, who, unlike the Stormtrooper, are main characters of the series.

Other new/pending statues include Han Solo Hero of Yavin Bust and Ugnaught Jumbo Kenner Figure.

MTV.com recently published a timeline of Hasbro’s Star Wars figures. The simple timeline educates new fans on the placement of the new animated series, Star Wars Rebels, in relation to the movies. Despite the useful information it provides, it neglects Star Wars: The Clone Wars and specific figures lines, such as The Black Series and more.
