See the Adorable Younglings at the Annual Dragon Con Pod-race!

It’s has become a Dragon Con tradition. I absolutely love going to the 10th floor of the Marriott in downtown Atlanta and seeing families gather together to build their very own podracer made of cardboard, paper plates, craft paper, and whatever items could stitch them together. This is the annual Younglings Podrace at Dragon Con.

The level of craftsmanship may vary, but the level of enthusiasm of the children and parents was higher than Anakin’s midichlorian count!

Dragon Con – as an institution – is something which many Star Wars fans are familiar. I’ll be the first to admit that it lives up to its “party convention” reputation. However, I think the family-oriented programming can often overlooked. Specifically, the Star Wars Track does an amazing job of presenting family-targeted programming like the New York Jedi Training Academy for younglings and my favorite: The Youngling Podrace.

Family Fun at Dragon Con!

If you venture your way to the Podracer manufacturing ground, you will find yourself veritably drowning in craft supplies. It’s basically Star Wars-Etsy heaven. The setup is a series of staging area where the little ones can (with much support and encouragement from their parents) craft the perfect twin-engine racing machine.
